What is this?: The basic plan is that some of us will build a little good karma (and a house) by volunteering for a morning at a
Habitat For Humanity
build up in Old North City. Immediately afterwards, we will squander
all that cosmic goodwill on the debauchery of a beer-soaked,
turkey-friendly ghetto hash. The hash is open to all, even if you don't
volunteer. We should have our build crew set already, but if you want
to try to join in, check with $5, $5, $5, and I'll try to get extra
people signed up in the day or two beforehand.
I'm acquiring and/or donating all the hash beer for free (via A-B),
so **volunteers will pay no hash cash**, and for those who just come
hash afterwards, the beer portion of your $7 will be donated (by me) to
Habitat. The hash will circle up at
4:00pm,
and you don't have to volunteer, or give half a shit about poor people,
to attend. It will be a normal hash from then on out, with no further
positive behavior, and I will reward our day-laborers with a relatively
short & pleasant trail.
Schedule:Build: Arrive
7:45, Start
8:00, free lunch somewhere in the middle, finish between 3 &
3:30.
Hash: Meet at
3:30pm, chalk-talk at
4pm, on-out a little while later.
Location: Jackson Place Park, in Old North City. This is right next to the build site. Ideally, we can park in the fenced lot of
Webster School,
adjacent to the south side of the park. We'll see if Habitat lets us
stay there past 4. Otherwise, just park on the street around the park.
(Don't leave valuables in sight in your car. This is the type of
neighborhood that could use a Habitat build.)
D'Erections: From the East/South/Southwest/Center:
Do what you need to do (44/55/etc) to get on Highway 70 going West
(really North) past the Arch/Edward Jones Dome. The 1st exit north of
the Dome, no more than a mile past it, is Monroe. Get off at the
Monroe sign, and take the exit street (10th street) to Madison. Make a left on
Madison,
crossing over 70. Turn right onto Hadley Street. There will be
Habitat Parking signs. The school is on your right, then the park.
Look for Hashers.
From the Northwest: Take Highway 70 East. Get off at exit
248C, Saint Louis Ave. It will merge onto 11th Street. Less than half a
mile ahead on your left is the park & school. If you get to
Monroe, you passed it. Make a right. See Habitat signs.
