Nobody has written the Hash Trash yet...WHY ARE WE WAITING!?!?!
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS: (This is a hash, all times subject to change)
FRIDAY: Show when you can. The entrance to the campground closes early Friday evening (10 or something like that, we'll keep you posted on that). You do need to have reservations to get into the campsite.
8:00 pm - Campground social and drunken paddle/tipped canoe instruction.
10:30 pm - There will be a short trail.
SATURDAY: 11:00 a.m. - Blue springs Ranch will pick us up for the float.
Eating: You're on your own, so bring your own food. (We will do a weenie roast on some gravel bar along the way, but it'll only be hotdogs and buns, nothing extravagant...very primitive.. and if you get separated from the pack, we won't deliver).
Drinking - Bring your own beverages/beer for the float trip.
9:00 p.m. - Hash starts - Mystery Hare - hash if you dare!
10:00 p.m. (or there abouts) Circle
Saturday's float will start at approximately 11:00 a.m. Big Hump will make reservations for canoes. The float is 10 miles long starting at Onondaga Cave and lasts approximately 4 hours along the upper Meramec River. SUNDAY: Sunday's trail will start at 14,000 feet over Sullivan, MO at Quantum Leap skydive center. (Transportation not provided to the skydive center)
10:00 a.m. (or thereabouts) - Arrive at the Skydive site. Jumps will be tandem, meaning that you are attached to a licensed, trained expert and you jump together. By going tandem, the instruction time is minimal, and you actually get to experience the freefall. Once your instructor secures your harnesses together, the two of you will jump from the plane at about 14,000 feet and experience the thrill of freefalling! You then have the option of pulling the ripcord yourself, or letting the instructor do it for you. Once your chute is deployed, you will enjoy a peaceful, six-minute, parachute flight back to the airport. With your instructor's assistance, the two of you will steer the parachute to a soft, on-target landing. Immediately following your skydive, you will be presented with a certificate honoring your achievement. We've jumped at Quantum Leap before and the experience was absolutely incredible.
Directions to Skydive Center:
From 270 and 44, travel west on I-44 to the first Sullivan, Missouri exit #226, (Meramec State Park exit). Turn right at the top of the ramp, and then turn left on the service road (HWY 185 north). Go west approximately 1/2 of a mile to the Sullivan Regional Airport sign, and turn right on highway AF. Go north 3/4 of a mile to the Quantum Leap sign, and turn right on Airport road.
Bring your own food for the weekend and bring your own beverages for the float trip. The campground has barbeque pits and the Big Hump will provide charcoal. Bring flashlights - for the Saturday night run, tent, sleeping bag, pillow, lawn chair, towels, extra shoes, songbooks, bug spray, sun tan lotion, lanterns any other personal items you may need.
CAMPING and HASHING - To camp and hash only, the cost will be $35.00/ per person. This will include all your beer for the weekend (excluding the float trip), campground cost and hash dues plus lots of fun and plenty of songs. There are a couple of cabins available, but I guarantee they won't last long. You would need to schedule that yourself by calling Blue Springs at 1-800-333-8007. Sorry but we cannot divide the cost for a one night stay as the campground requires a two night minimum. They do have a refund policy if given 7 day advance notice. They charge a $10.00 refund fee. Their policy for undesirable weather conditions is no refunds.
CAMPING, FLOATING and HASHING - To float, the cost is $38.00 per canoe or $19.00 per person. Contact Norman Bates or PMS if you need to be paired up with a canoe partner. This includes a weenie roast.
SKYDIVING ONLY: The cost is $189.00 per person (if we have 10 jumpers, there is a $15 per person discount. If your birthday falls within a week of the actual jump you save $15). Maximum weight limit for a tandem skydive is 225 lbs. Quantum Leap requires a $50 deposit to make reservations. You will need to make your own reservations over the phone with cash, check, money order, or credit card #. They require a minimum of seven days notice for rescheduling or canceling an appointment. Please inform PMS when you make your reservation so that we can keep track of any group discount.
