BH4 Description:
The Big Hump Hash House Harriers (BH4) is one of the three hashes in the St. Louis metro area. The inaugural running of the BH4 was on Wednesday, March 17th, 1999, St. Patrick's Day. It was co-founded by Rick "Dabadoo" Geers and Teri "Hostitute" Geers, formerly from the Big Lick H3, at Insurlick Air Base, (Adana) Turkey and the Las Vegas Resurection H3, in Las Vegas, NV, respectively. Then, both of the founding members co-founded the Viva Las Vegas H3, in Las Vegas, NV with two other local Las Vegas hashers.
The BH4 runs every Wednesday, at 7:00
PM, and on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays, at 3:00 PM (5:00 PM in summer) and on
special occasions, as announced. BH4 runs will normally be conducted
within about a 50 mile radius from the St. Louis Gateway Arch, on both sides of the
Mississippi River--or where ever the hare(s) decides to set trail. Occasionally the BH4
does road trips where it exceeds the 50 mile boundry.
The BH4 runs were originally only conducted on Wednesday evenings
accommodate people who can't normally make weekend hashes and / or for those who depend
upon hashing for exercise, and want to work out / hash more than once per week. Some
people find it hard to get out and run without having a bunch of hashers out there with
them and only running on weekends isn't enough for them. However, on October 9th,
1999, the BH4 started conducting runs on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each
month, opposite Saturdays to when the Bell-Scot H3 runs. The Saturdays were added,
because it is believed that this is the best day of the week to hash. Most people
are off on weekends and most people would prefer a daylight run. And, those who are
off on weekends can now stay up later after the hash and party 'til the cows come
home.
The BH4 gives out whistles for namings and headbands for significant run acheivements 10, 25, 50, 69, 100, 125, 150, 200, 250, 300, 400, 500, 600, 690, 700, 800, 900, and 1000, etc... The Big Hump also provides quality beer at the start, beer stops and at the circle for members drinking on the side lines. However, down down beer may be reall shitty beer.
So, come out and join us real soon! Its open to everyone
and it only takes half of a mind to participate.
Dabadoo
BH4 Founder
